What is beat making and drum programming?
Beat making is the core of modern music production — it’s how songs come alive with rhythm and energy. Drum programming refers to the process of creating patterns using kick, snare, hi-hat, 808s, and percussion sounds inside a DAW. Whether you're into trap, EDM, pop, or lofi, great beats start here.
At Immersed Music Production Programs, we teach you how to make beats that hit hard, groove well, and sound radio-ready. You'll learn using Ableton Live with real-world techniques from producers who do this professionally.
I’ve never made a beat before. Can I still learn this?
Yes — in fact, most of our students come in with zero experience. By the end of your first week, you’ll be making drum loops, layering percussion, and even crafting your first full beat. We break it down step by step, so even if you’ve never touched a DAW before, you’ll still be able to create patterns that feel natural and exciting.
What will I learn in this module?
In our drum programming sessions, you’ll master:
✅ Kick, snare, and hi-hat placement
✅ 808 design and tuning
✅ Creating bounce and swing in your beats
✅ Layering percussion to create full-sounding grooves
✅ Genre-specific drum patterns (trap, EDM, lofi, pop)
✅ Fills, transitions, and drum variation
✅ Using drum samples and MIDI instruments efficiently
✅ Arranging beats to support vocalists or drops
You’ll also learn how to build custom drum racks in Ableton and save your favorite kits for rapid production.
How do you teach drum programming?
Every beat-making class includes hands-on demonstrations, breakdowns of real producer workflows, and direct feedback from our mentors. We’ll show you how to make your kicks punch, how to tune your 808s, and how to avoid common timing mistakes.
Classes are taught live with screen-sharing and high-quality audio plugins like ListenTo, so you’ll hear every detail like you’re in the same room with your mentor.
Do I need special gear to start making beats?
Not at all. All you need is a laptop and headphones. We provide you with ✅ drum kits, ✅ MIDI templates, and ✅ Ableton sessions so you can follow along without needing to buy expensive gear. Some students use MIDI pads or drum machines — but they're not required.
What if I want to become a full-time beat maker?
That’s the goal for many of our students. This module gives you the tools to start making beats not just for yourself, but for vocalists, rappers, and clients. You’ll build a portfolio you can actually share — and get guidance on how to ✅ sell beats, ✅ collaborate, or even ✅ release your own projects.
By the end of this section, you’ll be able to:
✅ Create and arrange drum patterns from scratch
✅ Build professional-quality beats using samples or MIDI
✅ Understand how rhythm shapes emotion and movement in a track
✅ Support vocalists, drops, or solo instruments with the perfect beat
